Debate: Disinformation during a pandemic

The debate RODM online “Disinformation during a pandemics” took place on July 23 at 18:00. It was organized in cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Warsaw Institute, and the Regional Center for International Debate in Gdańsk.

The beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic is a time of information chaos, uncertainty and fear. An excellent medium for the growth of disinformation activities. This opportunity was used by Russia and China – false messages directed to the EU, NATO or the USA. Both Russia and China are seeking to strengthen their international position, which is why they use disinformation activities to disrupt cooperation between the EU and the US. Invited experts raise the above-mentioned topics and present the purpose for which some countries conduct such activities.

The debate was attended by:
– Dr Robert Rajczyk – expert of The Warsaw Institute Review, researcher of East Asia, and political scientist at the University of Silesia. Author of the publication “Modern information wars”.
– Grzegorz Kuczyński – director of the Eurasia program at the Warsaw Institute and expert on eastern issues. Author of many books and publications on the backstage of Russian domestic and foreign policy.

The event was hosted by Dr Piotr Andrzejewski – coordinator of RODM Poznań, analyst of the Institute for Western Affairs and research assistant at the Institute of Political Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
